The Genie Bra Infomercial Treats Us to the “Double D Cup Challenge”

Well here is a different take on the old police line up! On the Genie Bra infomercial, product creator Stella Riches (sic) brings out four women draped in robes and invites host Jane Denoble to guess which suspect is wearing the Genie Bra in what they call the “Double D Cup Challenge” (sic). In doing so Jane offers trenchant critiques of the busts of the ladies—all of whom have DD cup sizes:

To the further delight of Hooters patrons everywhere, once each woman has had her bustline evaluated she takes off her robe to give an eyeful of her bra and cleavage.

First up is Mindy, of whom Jane says, “She’s rocking some cone-style like some 80s music video”—although I doubt anyone will be confusing Mindy with Madonna. Jane and Stella use words the words “puckering” and “spillage” a lot to describe what they see.

Next up is Lauren. Jane says to her, “What, 25? Okay, this says 35. I’m going to say that’s not the Genie Bra.” Excuse me, but is there a way to tell a woman’s age just by looking at her bustline, much like the rings in a tree trunk? Do people really go around thinking, “Her face looks 25-years-old but her breasts look 35-years-old?”

The lucky woman wearing the Genie Bra is Jolene and, quite frankly, it almost seems as if Jane is hitting on her: “Now we have Jolene, perfect in every way…you got it all…the perfect bra for the perfect woman.” This suggestion of same-sex eroticism will doubtless please the horny dudes watching this infomercial in the middle of the night but seems unlikely to sell any additional Genie Bras.

The only thing missing from this infomercial is Howard Stern and Ralph Cirella wielding laser pointers!

  • Before we had infomercials with gratuitous cleavage, like the Jeff Paul “Secrets to Internet Riches” program. Now with the Genie Bra and Ahh Bra we’ve finally entered into an era of infomercials with non-gratuitious cleavage!

  • As a breast-fixated man, I personally think that this lady has done us a tremendous service by bringing in four DD size ladies, and thus, deserves a Congressional Medal of Honor and not ridicule.

  • “As a breast-fixated man…”

    Redundant.

  • @Canaduck: I actually knew two male colleagues, who claimed they were not breast-fixated; incidentally, both were German.

  • Hi,

I am interested purchasing the Genie Bra, but have a question for you. The infomercial mentions Double D fitting. I AM A TRIPLE D. Will the Genie Bra work for me?

    Thank you,

    Yvette Hicks

  • I thought the same thing Jane was hitting on the girl and the girl seemed to be uneasy with it. Ohh style! The perfect bra for the perfect woman. The woman that has the Ah bra seems to hit on women too. The nice looking ones with nice breasts she says they get a standing ovation.

  • Just received my genie bra 3 pack, (how they are sold in Australia) poastge was outstanding in turnaround considering I live in the North West. One complaint not really for anyone over a D cup size, it needs more support on the side panels. I am a 16 DD and 6’1 , the straps could be a little longer as I am longer in shoulders, waist etc, in proportion for my height, but it is comfortable and supportive, I will be using them around the house, and for exercising, but for work n going out, will be using old bras as they give a better shape. Those silly little pads to help uplift are not good for bigger cups, so took them out, and it fits a lot better. All in all, am happy but not as happy as you made me believe from the ads, that they were for the bigger busted woman. Will keep these 3 but will not be replacing them when needed. I give genie bra ***
