Beyond Parody: Kuttles Sells a Two Person Snuggie

Last month, I wrote a blog post about a Snuggie parody video from College Humor. The mock commercial featured “Snuggie spin-offs” that went from a full-body Snuggie, to one the covers a whole couch, to one that covers a whole room, to one that covers a whole house. In case you missed it:

What was meant as comedy turned out to be prophecy.

A commercial for a real product called Kuttles actually sells a 2-person blanket with 3 sleeves. Check out this Snuggie for couples:

This is a great example of the risk anyone who tries to parody an infomercial faces: the real thing can sometimes end up being even more absurd.

It seems to me that the “struggle” shown in the Kuttles commercial could be solved by just using a bigger blanket instead of a dishrag!

(By the way, the blonde woman at 1:18 is the same actress who appears in the Egg Genie commercial.)

  • I remember when Snuggies were featured on “The Today Show”- some female co-anchor actually suggested that they should make a “snuggie for two”. What a terrible product.

  • I swear–I kept waiting for a couple to start making out.

    Uh-oh, I hope that someone doesn’t read this and make a soft-core porn parody! Or DON’T I?

  • This is the most hilarious website I have ever seen!! I tell as many people as I can. I found the site by googling the Magic Bullet. I’ll never get one of those, but I love the ad and I laugh my ass off every time I watch one of their ads. “Hazel, the cigarette hag extraordinare” – priceless 😀

  • I find it interesting that they try to peddle pets being as “friendly” to being in the blanket. I could only keep my cat under covers when he was a very small kitten (He was recently separated from his mother.) and our last dog before she died.

What’s next – the French blanket for three?

  • This must be featured on pitchmen season 2. I mean, without Billy Mays they need some interesting gimmick to draw in viewers and a running ‘gag’ with Snuggie variations might just do the trick. Or maybe Vince Offer beating up a hooker every episode.
