Fuggly: Sketch Parody of the Snuggie Commercial

January 16th, 2009 by Paul Lucas

The Canadian sketch comedy TV show This Hour Has 22 Minutes produced a dead-on parody of the Snuggie commercial. Here the “Fuggly” blanket with sleeves is touted as the perfect companion for any supernatural rites you may be planning:

Frankly, I don’t think the Fuggly sketch is super-funny, but it is a very perceptive re-creation of the original Snuggie commercial:

  1. I don’t know. Reproducing the orginial commercial with a new name and adding new scenarios to use with the product doesn’t really equal parody or satire.

  2. Yeah, I don’t think the sketch is super-hilarious, but the “Cast spells,” “Stir your cauldron”, etc scenarios bring out the cult-robe appearance of the Snuggie. Not a new or original thought for anyone who reads this blog. But for people who’ve seen the Snuggie commercial yet have never heard a joke about it, this sketch might be mildly amusing.

  4. Just a minute ago, I saw spike Feresten spoofing Snuggies with a product called “Snuggly”. He mopped the floor using it (of course, while his son wearing it) and even used it to cleanse himself in the toilet.

now I see Lisa Kundrow wearing it (which was a gift from spike), and being interviewed by Spike.

I’ve not yet seen the Canadian video, so cannot comment on who might have copied whom between the two (if that happened).

  5. The name/spelling is Kudrow, right?

  6. Ok, Now I saw the Canadian one too. Spike’s and the Canadian spoofs are not copy of each other.

  7. Spike Feresten’s Snoogly (and not “Snuggly”, as I previously wrongly mentioned) is here:

This is a long video. So please look for Snoogly just after 15.50 minutes.
