Kevin Trudeau Trial: Sorry Judge, I Forgot My Passport in Switzerland

Infomercial pitchman and conspiracist Kevin Trudeau still refuses to pay the $37 million he was ordered to return to customers, claiming he doesn’t have the money. To ensure that Trudeau can’t flee the country during his contempt hearing, the judge in Chicago ordered him to turn over his passports. Trudeau handed over his American passport…but he also has an Italian passport that he says he left in his home in Switzerland. So why doesn’t Kevin just have his Swiss maid FedEx it over? According to a report from Chicago TV station WLS:

“…Trudeau claims he left the Italian passport in his Swiss residence inside a biometric safe that requires Trudeau’s fingerprint to open.”

I cannot imagine anything more quintessentially Kevin Trudeau than that! I don’t know whether to think that Kevin is just making it up or if he really believes his own fantasies about being some sort of latter-day James Bond who needs to secure his passport inside a “biometric safe” to prevent Illuminati and Bilderberger meanies from stealing it and handing it to his doppelganger. (I also wonder if that safe in Switzerland is in the same room that he recorded the Your Wish is Your Command CDs.)

Trudeau is scheduled to be back in court Monday. A judge will then decide whether to order him in jail to prevent the possibility of him fleeing. After following Trudeau’s legal woes for years, I wouldn’t want anyone to get his hopes up that Kevin will be put behind bars. When things look bleakest, he always manages to pull a genie out of a bottle.

Also, last year Kansas TV station KSHB aired an investigative report on Trudeau’s Global Information Network (GIN) and the people who were burned by it.

Although the story is an interesting look into the workings of GIN (which seems to have a lot in common with MLM schemes), it ignores the most unique aspect of the group, which is that GIN is an affinity fraud based on a shared worldview of political paranoia.
