Snap-On Feathers Cashes In on the “Hottest New Hair Craze” for White Trash

The creators of Snap-On Feathers hope to get fans of glitter nail polish and Dr. Pepper lip gloss into hopping onto the newest fashion trend sweeping the nation: Sticking bird plumage into one’s hair.

Because I do not follow women’s fashions, I was skeptical about the claim in this ad that there are actually salons that apply “permanent” feather extensions to one’s hair. But a little research proved that there actually are salons that do “feather hair extensions”—which is even dumber than paying $10 (plus shipping and handling) for Snap-On Feathers.

The irony is that pre-teen girls tend to get very concerned about what is “in fashion” at precisely the time in their lives when their sense of style is at its most gauche. So the Snap-On Feathers infomercial may succeed in getting them worried that they may be missing out on the latest hip craze.

Snap-On Feathers is the latest entry in the “trash for White Trash” fashion category pioneered by Booty Pop, Bumpits, Kickin’ Ink, and Sexy Bandz.

  • I’m sick of hearing about the economic woes of a country where women spend money on such shit as this.

  • Feather hair extension is a little wild beauty, and suitable for adult women in my opinion.
