BunIt Makes It Easy to Look Like a Frumpy, Uptight Librarian

The most successful “fashion” products sold on infomercials–such as Booty Pop, Bumpits, Snap-On Feathers and Salon Express–have great appeal to either white trash or 13-year-old girls or both.

So what will be the next hot fashion trend sold on TV infomercials? The creators of the BunIt think it will be looking like a dowdy spinster circa 1953:

They really expect to convince viewers that the frumpy look of a woman who puts her hair in a bun is actually an “amazing updo hair styling sensation.”

To be fair, there are some men who have fantasies about an uptight librarian who suddenly takes off her glasses, undoes her bun, shakes her hair and is transformed into a hot sexy babe. Maybe some trailer park gal could use BunIt to help her boyfriend live out this fantasy when he gets out on parole.

The infomercial encourages women to use BunIt if they are considering wearing a Princess Leia costume. But, ladies, believe me, you’ll be better off getting yourself a metal bikini and going to that Halloween party as slave Leia instead.

  • I wonder if this is trying to capitalize on the new ABC Family show “Bunheads”?

  • Updo hairstyles are back in fashion, but there’s a thin line between “elegant” and “ballet recital” or “1958 high school yearbook photo.” And now I can’t stop coming up with my own silly Bun-It phrases: Bun it while you’re sleeping! Bun it on the toilet!

I blogged just the other day about how dumb the Snuggie’s marketing campaign is. Truly dumb, but very successful. [sigh] Glad to see this site has as many issues as I do with useless As Seen on TV junk. 🙂 Keep up the great work, and thanks for the laughs.

  • The next logical step will be “PowderMaster”, a revolutionary way for men to get that hip, retro powdered wig look without becoming a barrister.

  • Librarians are not frumpy and uptight. They are kickass warriors for free speech!

  • What’s so special about that “exclusive” crystal hairpin?

  • This isn’t even a new, innovative product. Bun “donuts” have been available in beauty supply stores for ages.
