John Travolta Loves TV Infomercials!
In an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last year, actor John Travolta mentioned that some of his hobbies include golf, racquetball…and watching infomercials!
When describing his infomercial obsession, he mentions the GT Xpress as a particular favorite and describes how he couldn’t help demonstrating the product to baseball great Cal Ripken and singer James Taylor when they were over his house! It appears that even such a mega-star as John Travolta can’t resist the motherly charms of Cathy Mitchell.
Letterman then asks about The Magic Bullet (which Dave calls “the thing that chops and all of that stuff”). In his explanation of why he won’t buy it, Travolta seems to confuse chain smoking Hazel from the Magic Bullet infomercial with the acerbic, critical Grandma from the Bullet Expresswhich just goes to show that the man really does watch these infomercials!
Someone please alert Mick Hastie that we’ve found an actor for his next Magic Bullet infomercial.

Speaking of an “odd effort to be so natural”…does me detect a bit of projection going on there?
Color me cynical, but this little anecdote smacks of something a PR person dreamed up to humanize Mr. Travolta. How many persons own their own 737 jet after all? Ah, well, then, I should wear my doubts proudly.
Cynicism is my shield, sarcasm is my sword on the battlefield of capitalism.
