Cathy Mitchell Infomercials as Comfort Food?

Why do people watch infomercials? Most watch them because they are interested in buying the advertised product. Others watch them to get to sleep. People such as myself and the fans of this website watch them for the unintentional humor.

But how about watching infomercials for emotional comfort and to heal a broken heart?

One blogger at TVGuide.com who goes by the handle Coggie wrote a post in July titled Cathy Mitchell Singlehandedly Saved My Life. In this post Coggie describes how, in the aftermath of a breakup, she found solace in watching Cathy Mitchell hawk some gadget on TV:

I found comfort in her soothing, maternal, perky voice as if to assure me that all would be well, as long as I tried a hot pocket apple pie, done in seconds! Amazingly, I never tired of watching this infomercial, every hour it was on, on one channel or another.

And she admits that even today as a married woman when she sees the host of GT Xpress 101 and GeMagic on TV she ends up “right back where I was before.”

Coggie makes the statement: “To sum up: Infomercials are for lonely hearts.”

And lest you think Coggie is alone in this Cathy Mitchell fixation, in the comments section “Klotar”, who claims to have watched the GT Xpress 101 infomercial “hundreds of times,” adds:

I thought I was alone is this bizarre obsession with Cathy Mitchell. My best friend teased me over this until, one day, Cathy was on and I insisted she watch it. My intention was to have her feel the lure and get off my back.

And the next person who comments has the habit just as bad:

OHMIGAWD! I, too, thought I was the only Cathy Mitchell nut out there! Something about that red-headed, Ma-type is strangely appealing…I’ve Googled her name many times, just trying to find out more about her! Wouldn’t you LOVE to have her as a neighbor?…We all should form a support group – CMAA – Cathy Mitchell Addicts Anonymous!

It appears that Cathy Mitchell’s hold on these people has something of the preternatural about it. Coggie mentions her “devil lures” and Klotar calls her “the devil wrapped in apple pie.” So perhaps Cathy Mitchell’s appeal is less analogous to comfort food than to crack cocaine.

I suspect this type of visceral reaction to infomercials is something unique to Cathy Mitchell and her grandmotherly charms.

I doubt anyone has ever sought to heal a broken heart by watching The Juiceman or Matthew Lesko.

  • I’m personally addicted to the Magic Bullet infomercial, one I’ve probably watched 200 times…often several times in one night. If you watch it carefully, it’s hilarious.

  • I’m not so much addicted to Cathy Mitchell as I am morbidly fascinated by her. She’s SuperMom AND SuperScaryMom at the same time. I watch her hawking her latest crap and feel like she may turn around and bake me cookies or beat me with a spatula just as easily. Her scrapbooking infomercial is especially train-wreck watchable. She’s like a one-woman Manhattan Project of scrapbooking. She looks like she could singlehandedly take over Japan with her scrapbooks.

  • That freak looks like something leftover from one of the old Sid & Marty Krofft sets. Tacky, kitschy, and slightly obscene. Plus, she sounds like a barnyard chicken.

That red wig of hers is about the cheesiest I’ve ever seen on anyone. Yeah, I’d have to say, on her infomercials, she comes across as a big drunken bird.

  • I thought I was the only Cathy Mitchell Nut out there. But I read the Cathy Mitchell Saved my life and found out other people were hooked. Creepy. She’s on TV guide and local channels like fox a lot in the morning trying to sell her latest piece of crap. The worst by far it the GeMagic. I have the infomercial on my youtube channel which is peachrules. Or, just search for GeMagic and it’ll pop up. Check it out

  • Infomercials and the people in them are hillarious probably because they all consume heavy ammounts of drugs and/or alcahol before and after the infomercial to keep themselves convinced that the products they are trying to sell us are so damn great when in reality they are malfunctioning plastic trash. The Magic Bullet infomercial is great because the characters are trashy, humorous, scumbags who would rather be watching porn and smoking crack that watching Mick blend up inedible slop with the fagic bullshit. ps Mimi is an infomercial whore she should win an award for being in the most infomercials in her pathetic career.

  • Well, Cathy Mitchell here. Had to jump in and comment. It can be dangerous to google your own name, and you must be prepared for the consequences.
To set the record straight, first, I did not do the scrapbooking infomercial…that was Tina Lewis. Second, I do not drink or do drugs before filming and whether you believe it or not I wont “Just sell anything”
I’ve been making infomercials since 1989…Snakmaster…and have turned down more products than I have done simply because I didnt want to be associated with something that dosnt work. Opinion as to whether putting gems on clothing is “cheesy” varies, however if you do want to do it the Gemagic does work.
On a personal note, people do enjoy being my neighbor as I do bake and cook and test recipes and most often have to find someone to share all the food with. I live in Northern California, have 2 grown kids, assorted grandkids and a lot of young friends who call me mom, visit, call and enjoy the “Mom perks” without enduring “Mom lectures”.
By the way, the Red hair is not a wig, and is for the most part, natural.
I am on a few yahoo groups, one for Kitchen Appliances and Recipes and one for the Xpress101, where I join the conversatioon, share recipes and answer questions about my products and other kitchen stuff.
If I make anyones day a little brighter, I’m glad and thanks for the possitive comments…If I make you crazy or you hate the commercial, please feel free to change the channel!

  • stuffed soup? stuffed soup? no freakin’ way! i tell you what pisses me off about that infomercial everytime i see it. at the end joe’s curiosity gets the best of him and he decides he wants to use the countertop u.f.o. he see’s a recipe for stuffed salmon and rice. sounds good, but mrs. ronald mcdonald has to get in the middle of it and add her damn broccoli. notice she drops a piece of brocolli on joe’s salmon and when it’s done it’s burnt right on top of the fish. she then tastes joe’s culinary masterpiece and has the audacity only to say the stuffing tastes really good! shit. thinks joe. while i was in the bathroom reading hustler for 9 min. cooking a delicious fish dinner all that skank can say is “the stuffing is good!” he then throws her to the ground and gives her a good grudge lay and things are wonderful once again in infomercial land.

  • I first became accustomed to watching informercials, as well as re-broadcasts of TV preachers/shows (like TBN) as a result of my U.S. and Spanish partners exporting industrial equipment and supplies to Europe. With the time difference, sometimes there are issues to contend with via phone, e-mail, fax, etc., between, say 7 a.m. and noon to resolve — European time, midnight to 5 a.m. for me. Having to be involved during this period, with a lot of time gaps between, and not being one to catnap, I have seen a lot of these programs to kill these periods.

Cathy and the guy who shills for her (a “C” list actor) are frankly very amusing. She cackles on and on, and he becomes almost orgasmic as he samples resulting from her stuffing the pockets of these small machines with various foods.

The ubiquitious Ron Popeil has about 20 of his cookers, preparing simultaneously every type of meet or vegetable imaginable, and hawks a line of knives as well

I guess these items have some use, but it always seems to me, to do everything they maintain you can do, you’d need several like they have – just one would require about 4 hours to eat a meal in the stage required.

One night, at about 3 a.m., I couldn’t resist calling a live operator on a TBN religious re-broadcast. I told her I observed that the several people on-stage railing against a variety of sins, and with 4 or 5 of them, together, having tototal weight of about a ton, I had noticed that omehow they had neglected to address the sin of “gluttony” I said I’d send them $1,000 if on next broadcast they’d address it — she hung-up.

Another time, I called asking how the preacher healing everyone in-sight from the audience, and even from afar if they’d touch their t.v. screens, himself happened to be wearing the worst toupee I’d ever seen. Surely such a miracle-worker with these powers could do something as simple as retoring the follicles on his own head. I offered $1,000 if he’d aappear next time, momentarily, sans the wig. Another hang-up.

So if you must watch them – or even voluntarily – infomercials and many of the religious shows provide unintended humor. Cathy and her various appliances (I’ve seen her with a couple of others) is among the best.

And the oozy candy bar- “Thats what makes it goooooood”

  • I have the Magic Bullet and the GT Express. I enjoy both of them and they both works wonderful. Some infomercials are not scams. I have not had any problems with my products since I bought them when they was first aired. The Magic Bullet you can buy in the store now if you want to try it.

Fot the ones that thinks these two products are crap and talking about people really has no high hopes. Everything you have purchased for your home, you had to try it first to see if you like it before caller it crap.

  • You guys need to just live and let live. To the ones that are complaining. Why are you complaining about? If you weren’t watching the informercials you wouldn’t have anything to complain about. So just turn the channel if you don’t like her. Jesus. I’ve watched her sandwich maker and magic bullet commercials over and over thinking I am going to get inspired to make all these juiices and carbless pocket meals but I don’t. And are you seriously dissing the Magic Bullet. You wouldn’t be if you actually knew the amounts of money these people were raking in. Why don’t you come up with an idea that sells thousands and thousands (millions?) of units and then you can talk. Oherwise turn the channel and shut up.

Comment by Dee Dee on June 9, 2008 at 4:43 pm

  • Why do all these info-mercial companies seem to think that a person with a cockney-london accent will instill confidence in me to buy thier product?

I have spent some time in the UK and the average subject can’t afford the ingredients they show being prepared as quick as you can say “bob’s your uncle” in the magic bullet, with some hungover broad in a house dress, bandana and a fake cigarette drooping from her lips. Or Berman barely able to stand the concoction in a glass and saying how great it is.
There used to be another character with a bowtie that used to say the hosts name Mike about every 10 seconds as he hawked his items.

I just loved to watch for the comic value of these ads. Especially when Cathy says her kids-who must be in thier 70’s by the looks of her-just love the chocolate cake made with coca cola-arrrrggggh-puke time:)

  • I have a question directed to the mean-spirited people who commented. Do you feel better now? Would you want someone posting these terrible comments about you, your mother, grandmother, wife, girlfriend or anyone else that you love? If you have children I feel sorry for them. To be taught to treat people like this is what is wrong with society. Why would you watch something or someone you hate? That shows stupidity and hopefully it is not passed down to other generations.

Cathy, thank you for commenting and your infomercials are interesting. God bless you.

  • Cathy looks like he’s packing about 30 pounds more than necessary on her frame. And as she packs one of these glorified waffle irons with old meatloaf, another with oreos and other sweets, another with pizza sauce, another with Pillsbury raw dough, and another with eggs and meat – all accompanied by other various leftovers, sauces, jams, etc. – and remarking how much her family enjoys all this crap —– I picture a house of overweight couch potatoes with cholesterol readings perhaps approaching 4 digits, reaching for the remote while they shovel spoonful into their mouths like a group of chimps at feeding time.

  • I am shocked at the the comments people made about Cathy Mitchell.. If you don’t like something why in the world would you watch, that is what a remote or on/off switch is for.. such a shame to be sooooo mean spirited about such a nice lady who is trying make a buck on her talent.. and she is talented!!!! shame on all of you…. I think she is adorable and love to watch her infomercials. I love my snakmaker too.

  • I love informercials for all of the reasons mentioned – both good and bad. I must admit that I purchased the Snack Master ages ago. I believe this was the first Cathy Mitchell infomercial (or at least the first time I saw her on one). Cathy made me a believer and I bought the Snack Master. Funny thing is that I still own it and still enjoy cooking with it. My favorite informercial is the Magic Bullet. I just love Hazel, with the cigarette dangling from her mouth. The informericals that irritate me right now are the “colon cleansing” variety. Basically, the answers to all of our problems is to ride ourselves of the sh*t we are so full of. Give me Cathy or Ron Popeil anytime.

Comment by Joe on July 12, 2008 at 7:01 pm

  • I watch infomercial for the sheer fun they provide. In fact, I often keep awake by force to watch late night infomercials (which start only after, at least, 1-30 AM in my basic channels). To be honest, what interests me in TV is the absurd: Jerry Springer, Married with Children, Infomercials, Chuck Norris movies, Maury Show…you have got an idea of what my level of sophistication and tastes are, right?

Before coming to the US, I used to watch News on TV (and regretted that many of my friends did not do so), but once here, I gave up on that habit.. who wants to know about high speed car chase and cats being rescued from neighborhoods, day after day, year after year? (You don’t believe me? Just watch Fox11 News, for example.).

These days I have gone one step further; I now even watch full show of infomercials by giants such as Donald Barrett in YouTube.

By the way, very recently, another item has started attracting me to TV: late night Christian/ Religious infomercial-like programs. Someone talking about how the World will end because the European Union is formed (which, is his bogus opinion, is a resurrection of the Roman Empire) and his wife meowing like a pet cat after him alongside..where else can you get this?

  • While Ms./Mrs. Mitchell’s ‘pitches’ may sound ‘funny’ to some, I’m beginning to wonder with all the compliants now lodged against the company, why she doesn’t step forward to ‘fix’ the ‘major’ flaws cited with the GTXpress101 cooker? She ‘claims’ that she doesn’t “put her name on anything that doesn’t work”, well ‘duh’ has she taken the time to read and respond to all the angry letters I’m seeing all over the boards? I’ve wanted to purchase one ever since I saw the first commercial (and use a money order rather than a credit card so I don’t get ‘multiple’ billings.), but will not do so ‘until’ or ‘unless’ the GTXpress101 has had a major over-haul.
We haven’t yet seen Cathy nor Joe Farago appear on television to ‘right the wrongs’ that are being done to the customers, by continuing to sell a defective device no matter how ‘sweet’ she looks.

I don’t know what happened to it, but it was quality. I’m thinking about ordering a GTXpress 101 because I’m about to toss my third George Foreman grill because I can’t get the darn thing clean!! • I’m pretty much of a normal, straight-arrow sort of person, and my business requires me to be on-line a lot. And I’m not one given to order anything from infomercials, where S/H charges, “free” additional items (“only” more S/H) can result in a $20 deal approaching a $100 billing, with periodic monthly billings following. However, on evenings and weekends, I’ll have the television on, and sometimes I’m e-mailing back and forth – with some delays in-between – with partner in Spain, when it is 10 a.m. there an 3 in the morning here. Impossible to miss Cathy and her cohort among the infomercial fare, and she and her “C/D-list” actor cohort are pleasant – if somewhat vacuous – personality types.
I frankly enjoy the humor of watching them every time, and “I can’t look away” (like the supercilious old guy viewing the painting of Kramer on “Seinfeld”).

I am not a prurient individual, but I must admit to this. Every time I watch Cathy, and the guy sampling her wares and gushing over their deliciousness, I imagine these two, and all this food, being featured in a John Waters flick, with Cathy in the “Divine” role, and this guy replacing Tab Hunter or one of Divine’s other paramours. Think of what Waters could do with this pair, their XPress 101 and all these leftovers, everywhere in the house, morning, noon or night.

  • I love Cathy’s GTexpress informercial. It is the only TV production that I can watch over, and over, and over again. I never get sick of it. I don’t even own any of her appliances. You should have seen us, though, imagine a group of about 6 or 7 people, sitting around a bigscreen, drinking and laughing while watching the GTexpress infomercial. We had great times with Cathy Mitchell.

I also like the forementioned candy bar in the brownie quote – “Thats what makes it goooooood”

I have been saying that for years, now.

Another one is “Chicken Braaath” but you have to say the chicken really fast and in a high pitched voice

Cathy Mitchell has a great personality and is very pleasant to watch. I am not at all surprised at the tvguide article “Cathy Mitchell saved my life”

    Thank you, Cathy

The stuffed soup is great, strange but true! I don’t know who did the infomercial for the Microwave Grill but save your money because that one is truly a piece of crap! I only wish I had enough money to buy every piece of crap they sell! Oh yea, the little chopper that will chop up a cinder block is great too! Ronco knives and rotissare mmmmm…. One more, the Jack Lalane juicer is wonderful but a PIA to clean..

  • UK viewer here, and I LOVE the infomercial for the GTXpress 101. I’ve watched it dozens of times and have yet to get bored with it. Those breakfast sandwiches look yummy (not so sure about ‘stuffed soup’ though …)

I’m a sucker for infomercial products, and have found a great site on YouTube that reviews just about every product on the market. Search for ‘asotv.com’ on YouTube and you’ll find reviews on dozens of products.

It’s a pity some people felt it necessary to make such mean-spirited comments directed personally at Cathy Mitchell. She comes across as a nice, warm-hearted lady, and I wish she was MY next-door neighbour!

The one product that always makes me laugh when I see the infomercial is the Perfect Steak ‘complete steak system’. It’s a PAN. A frying pan. Are there really people so stupid they’d buy a frying pan just because they call it a ‘complete steak system’?

We have problems in the kitchen.’ When I (gently) asked her what she meant she said, ‘We have trouble making dinner sometimes and I can’t cook yet. But even I could use THIS!’

Hilarious! So, I went online to check out the S&H which is exhorbitant! Forty bucks! What’s up with that!?! Maybe Kohl’s still carries it!

Love, love, love Cathy & Joe!

  • I think it is so unappealing for this lady to be preparing food with such long finger nails. She touches and moves the food around with just her long fingernails, totally disgusting. How clean is the underside of 10 long finger nails? She needs to redi-set-go and trim her finger nails.

  • I love Cathy Mitchell! I just bought my GT Xpress at Target and everything I’ve made in it has been so good! I even made cheesecake (it was a bit hard to lift out but it tasted really good). Nuts to all of you who put Cathy down-I wish she was my neighbor!

  • While I don’t own a GTxpress 101, I must say I am disappointed (though not surprised) that people feel, just because they can do so anonymously, that they can or should make so many mean spirited remarks about a woman they have only seen on TV, do not know and have never met. People who would go to the trouble of writing catty remarks about Ms. Mitchell (or anyone else they do not know for that matter) that they must SURELY know will live on in perpetuity on the Internet) represent the absolute lowest of the low in human character and morals. What terrible upbringings and parents you must have had to allow you to think such conduct is acceptable! It is precisely because of people like this that the world is in such a mess. If you don’t know someone, keep your rude remarks to yourself. And please do us all a big favour and DO NOT REPRODUCE!

  • I’ve been watching kathy Mitchel for years ….very early 90’s …I love her and actually bought a bunch of those first Snackmaster things as Christmas gifts years ago (and everyone loved them)..I think she is a hoot and do not understand the meanspirited jerks ..I mean if you go to the trouble to write a nasty comment about a nice little woman in an infomercial..you must be pretty pathetic as a human being….

Comment by kathy on November 14, 2009 at 10:46 pm

  • I love Cathy Mitchell! The snakmaster is a great infomercial, it’s still available on youtube. Also, the microcook wrap, that’s a classic. I watch the current infomercial, the ready set go cooker, and I ordered that one. I use it often, especially for the “cini mini’s”, my kids love ’em! Thanks, Cathy! I would love to have you for a friend and neighbor!

  • It’s one thing to say you do like a product based on poor quality, or not delivering what it is supposed to, but what is with the meanness, snideness, unremitting rudeness evoked against this Cathy Mitchell?

You can hide behind your keyboards and be crass, what if that was someone you cared or loved, being disparaged to this level.

Comment by sharon on February 24, 2010 at 7:55 pm

  • I love listening to Cathy Mitchell explains how she makes this or that for “her kids.” This woman is at least 70 if she’s a day. I imagine she must have a couple 40-something unemployable sons living in the basement and all the time begging for more mini pizzas and apple pie hot pockets.

  • if the xpress ready set go is so great then why is it showing up at goodwill already? I thought it was a little bigger but it’s not. It needs to be twice bigger for a family. To high priced and the non stick surface peels off so that needs to be re-designed like cirrculon cookware.

  • The reason S/H fees are excessive because it creates revenues the company can recoup off their investment if the product is returned and therefore the selling pitch to the gullible is not a total lo$$.

Cathy/Joe do not hawk these inferior gadgets because they perform well or not-they get paid

If you look close-its obvious the tasting portion of these scrumptious tidbits are edited and Joe is mimicking chewing.

As far as Cathy’s long fingernails and the superficial heat she suffers due to the hot food-
-they are grubby and unsanitary– and I think the food is not hot but she fraudulently reacts to convey that the gadget is the appropriate temperature.

  • A product to make Americans fatter eating crap. Nothing good for you goes into a two sided cooking device that’s done in 7 minutes………..it’s JUNK~!

Convenience does not equal nutritional value or being good for you……….look at her she’s huge, probably just eats garbage prepared in this fast food cooker. GREAT~!!!

Comment by Loki on September 5, 2010 at 8:44 pm

  • Hello-This is TV-not REALITY!!

They can present anything within the lax, barely scrupulous, paper thin guidelines that bait, lure, then hook the vulnerable in droves.

Very little on infomercials is authentic. One cannot kick the tires, touch or actually see how the gadget is manipulated to ‘perform’ for the camera.

You are suppose to believe the smooth delivery and moronic verbiage that flows out of the paid hawker’s vocal cords.

Reminder: Believe nothing of what you hear and less of what you see.

  • If you take care of the device and wipe it out with a soft wet washcloth right after using it, the teflon will have long life. Don’t be tempted to scratch it up trying to fork things out of the wells.
I love my GT Xpress RSG. I have cooked a lot of things for the two of us that live in my house.
Its great for toasted sandwiches, scrambled egg omlets, single serve pizzas, taco anything, meat entrees, hot desserts, and much more.
It beats turning on the huge oven for two people. It may be small and even a little gimmicky, but its way better than ordering out and NOT KNOWING WHO ELSE is handling your food. And really, its even quicker than ordering out.
As for Cathy, the jury is still out. She might look a little clowny, but she did make this cool kitchen toy and she promotes it pretty well. I like the infomercial. I really don’t care what any of the hosts look like. All I know is that I bought the product and I am very satisfied.

Comment by kimmi on October 6, 2010 at 10:56 am

  • I agree with one of the first posters…Cathy is a warm, reassuring TV presence, and I would watch her whether she was hawking kitchen gadgets, doing the weather forecast, whatever. The Turbo Cooker is still my main go-to pan in the kitchen. I also have a GT Xpress 101, and sorry to say the nonstick coating does flake off, and I have only used the plastic spatula on it. So now need to use more cooking spray. Cathy and Ron Popeil and others do sell gadgets, as much by their folksy, trustworthy characters as anything else. Yes, Cathy does remind me of a favorite aunt. But what’s the harm in that? Look at how much overproduced crap programming is on TV…namely, trashy sitcoms, thinly veiled political news “analysis”, over-inflated sports shows… What’s wrong with a little warmth and humor that comes naturally… that doesn’t come shrink-wrapped with logos and pre-packaged with canned laughter. If Cathy was selling stock commodity futures, it would be fun to watch!

  • I just recently purchase the microwave pasta boat and so far I really like it. I cooked a 2 serving amount of angel hair pasta and it came out great; I was excited! But when I was reading through the recipe book that comes with the pasta boat, I found an error on one of the recipes. The recipe is on Page 15:Pasta Boat Beer Steamed Shrimp. The “ingredients” looked in order but when I read the directions, they do not go with this recipe. I just thought that, to whom it may concern, you would want to know the error and perhaps to a “recall” on the recipe book. I would also appreciate somehow recieving the correct direction please. Thank you to Cathy Mitchell.

  • I’m not going to comment on cathy’s red hair or genuineness. I don’t know whether the product works or is it is practical. I can’t get past another issue; using your long fingernails to turn the food is absolutely disgusting! You never see a chef or cook with long fingernails. Like I really want the bacteria under her fingernail on my food.

  • Only a complete idiot would put any credence into an informercial. Those TV hawkers are nothing more that fast talking con-artists, who will willfully promote a piece of shit product. The biggest joke out there now in late night informercial land is Montel Williams and the felonious fake psychic Sylvia Browne! Montel attempts to hawk some shit product and Sylvia Browne is giving “psychic readings” to the cretinous women in the informercial audience! Has America ever been so dumb?!

It pains me to see negative comments from people who truly do not know her. Cathy is a dynamic lady with talent.

  • I accidentally stumbled on this site while looking for recipes and I am shocked to see how mean people can be. First of all, every mean thing said about this lady can only be a mirror of how you all feel about your own selves because you don’t even know her. Therefore, it’s your own self hatred and lack of anything substantial to do in your own lives that causes you to strike out against someone that is doing something with their life. Realistically, how many People who are happy and out in the world trying to make something of themselves are going to sit on their computers at insane times in the day and talk $#%@ about someone else. Can’t you see how pathetic that is? How sad? Really, who do you all think you are? I just enjoy the cooking tips and that’s all there really is to it. Thank you Cathy Mitchell. I hope you never read this because people suck. It would break my heart if my own Mom ever read anything like the stupid stuff people have written here. I could only hope that she would see the truth behind these hateful words and know it was not about her rather about the people who wrote them. I believe this kind of feedback should never be posted. Freedom of speech? . . . . Press? . . . . . . That’s crap. It was never adapted to support the verbal bashing of another human being.

Did you respond to any of those people that wrote such crude hurtful comments and tell them, as you put it, to. . . . “lighten up a bit”? If not, don’t you think that is telling in itself?

  • I got an Xpress RediSetGo as a Christmas gift, so I had not read the reviews on Amazon and other websites. I thought I would commment on how unevenly my unit’s base heats, bottom third burns while top third has not begun cooking, but after reading the reviews I realize there’s no point, a mere squeak in a roar of condemnation. I’m lucky the Teflon hasn’t started flaking off, the exterior pain hasn’t yet popped and cracked, the on/off switch still works, and the timing knob hasn’t fallen off. But I’ve only used it 3 times.

My only question is, why did America’s leading small appliance expert fail to recognize that this product has massive problems? How much testing did she actually do before she put her name on it? The next small appliance she endorses I will avoid like the plague.

  • Every time I see one of those horrible commercials for “dump cakes” I cringe! What absolute garbage to be eating! All of that fat! I sure hope that Kathy sees her doctor regularly and is on a statin and blood thinner! The poor woman’s arteries are probably all blocked with fat and grease if she’s not being medicated to keep her arteries cleaned out with Lipitor, etc.

I did hear however, from a reliable source, that Cathy Mitchell will be replacing Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune in 2022 when Vanna retires. And Cathy will be using her vintage Ronco Mr. Microphone to sing Donny and Marie hits to the audience between commercial breaks.
