See Kevin Trudeau and His Natural Cures Book Exposed and Mocked

Here are two must see videos for any “fan” of infomercial pitchman Kevin Trudeau, author of Natural Cures “They” Don’t Want You to About, The Weight Loss Cure “They” Don’t Want You to Know About, and Debt Cures “They” Don’t Want You to Know About.

The first is a report from investigative reporter John Stossel that aired on the TV show 20/20 in 2006:

The thing that was most striking to me in that report was that Tammy Faye Bakker actually hosted one of Kevin Trudeau’s infomercials!! How in the world could I have missed that one?!

I’m also sorry I never saw that infomercial where he used some kind of tape to cure pain!

And after seeing that you’ll really appreciate this Mad TV sketch in which “Robin Kirkly” promotes his book “Miracle Natural Cures Formula” on an infomercial:

A very funny sketch that nicely captures Trudeau’s mixture of greed and paranoia.

  • I remember the Tammy Faye interview. It aired in 2006, but it didn’t last long (she died obviously).

  • She also reportedly regretted doing the infomercial.

  • This “fan” appreciates the videos. 🙂

I love the sketch; they did a great job mocking him, and the set even looks like one from the infomercials.

  • Hey speaking of Trudeau and Tammy Faye, does anyone remember that one he did with Danny Bonaduce? I think it was for something called “Mega-Memory”. God I wish I could find that one as I remember it being truly stupid and amusing.

  • I remember the infomercial with Danny Bonaduce and Kevin Trudeau. It tried to fool people into thinking it was a late-night comedy talk show. Danny even did a monologue where he mentioned Leno and Letterman as if they were all colleagues. Haven’t seen any video of that one around.

  • If it is such a scam why do people lose weight and lots of it…. I personally lost 60 pounds in the last 4 months.

  • Could someone explain this one to me? I’ve been hearing a lot of radio ads for Kevin’s “Natural Cures” book lately with that Donald Barrett guy. I was under the impression that they weren’t colluding to scam the ignorant with each other anymore.

  • Hey, just wanted to let you know about this, and wasn’t sure of any other way to get word.

I am right now watching a Trudeau informercial for “Debt Cures THEY don’t want you to know about”, which is BLATENTLY ripping off “The View”.

Among the wise and learned females he’s speaking to is… the 2007 Playmate of the Year.

    You must cover this.

  • Everything in his book is a suggestion, eating fruits and vegtables more often that are organically grown and eating organic kosher meat should be the only things offered, because that’s what is best for our bodies to get the nurients to help fight all kinds of diseases. It’s all about nutrition and avoiding fast food that is processed, and all around horrible for your body. How in the world could Trudeau’s suggestions not work?

  • Adele, if you smoke enough crack, you’re bound to lose weight.

  • Instead of infomercials it should be crap-o-mercial!

  • In Dec., 2005, I suffered from viral fever and lost appetite completely. For 18 days, I mostly drank coffee, juice and alcohol and are very little solid food. During that time, I also watched Kevin Trudeau commercials. After that phase, I found out that I lost 12 pounds (which made me happy, actually).

I thought it happened, due solely to the loss of my appetite, but now Adele makes me re-think about this issue. Maybe I lost the weight due to watching those infomercials, after all. Just a thought!

  • Has anyone seen “Scumdog” Kevin promote, The Atkins Diet a few years back? Am not kidding. He did not talk about organic/kosher food then! He was saying to eat meat like it’s nobody’s business! Healthy?! It was all in his book…yeah right!

Comment by Mike Sailor on January 28, 2009 at 5:20 am

  • I think the tape was like Salon Pas or like an Icy Hot patch.

  • I tuned in to many of the late night infomercials by that handsome devil…yes devil…Mr. Trudeau. I never whipped out the old Visa thank God but came close. He’s persuasive…I remember the Atkins segment very well because I went on it before he ever hawked it..didn’t help me. So glad I wasn’t one of the poor schlepps he ripped off. Karma’s gonna get him one day…oh that’s right it’s getting him as we speak!

  • jenny is a pathetic moron, I think.

Comment by chuck sapper on December 4, 2012 at 10:14 pm

  • @jenny – I really do believe you spent $1500 on this idiot’s book. Your terrible spelling, atrocious grammar and the fact that you have no idea that the caps lock key doesn’t need to be on at all times convinces every one here that you’re Trudeau’s target audience. In short, you’re an idiot who is ripe for the picking for a snake oil salesman like Trudeau.

And to the other people claiming they got healthy using Trudeau’s methods – of course you did. It’s called the placebo effect. You spent time and money on an “alternative” method to cure yourself and then convinced yourself that you would get well so you did. Honest to goodness medical doctors have even shown that faith and a positive attitude can help some people get better. If I sold you a plain rock that I marketed as a healing rock for $3,000, I’d bet there would be cases where people said the rock healed them because they believe it would. The real fact is that illness sometimes run their courses and people get better naturally. The other fact is there are a ton of hypochondriacs out there who really aren’t sick, buy into this bullshit and then get indignant when their “facts” are refuted.

  • I just found out while reading an article about Kevin Trudeau’s legal battles that the tape to cure pain that you mentioned is called “Biotape”. However, I haven’t been able to find the infomercial for it yet. If I do manage to find it at some point, I’ll let you know. I did, on the other hand, find this rather cheesy website for it: http://www.biotape.net/
