Infomercial News: Jeanne Bice Dies and Montel Williams Starts a Pot Club

Jeanne Bice on QVCWanted to let everyone in on some news about two celebrities in the home shopping and infomercial world.

First, Jeanne M. Bice, the rotund woman who sold her gaudy Quacker Factory fashions on QVC for years, died on June 10 at the age of 71.

According to this obituary:

She loved QVC. Everything about it. She loved the people: the executives who ran it, and the production people who worked so hard to make every show perfect. She loved the famous stars who appeared there, and had to pinch herself when others considered her one…Her most important lesson was that Jeanne Bice taught the world how to laugh and smile. She taught us how to look at the good side of things. She taught us to Dream. She taught us to Believe. She taught us to love ourselves; who we are, just as we are.

No word as to whether Jeanne would be buried in her headband or if her sparkly, multicolored Quacker Factory clothes will continue to be sold on her beloved QVC.

The other news story is that former talk show host and current infomercial impresario Montel Williams has opened up a medical marijuana club in Sacramento, California. (The article mentions that Montel’s parents attended the grand opening, but does not say if Sylvia Browne was on hand to bless the kush with her psychic vibrations.) No word on whether Williams will tape a “Living Well with Montel” infomercial to promote the cannabis dispensary, but I’m sure the HealthMaster will be available to whip up delicious pot brownies and “Montel’s Green Fruit Smoothie.”

  • Can Mick Hastie not get in on this one? I’m sure there’s a Magic Bullet recipe that can somehow involve medical marijuana. Hell, even the moms from the Baby Bullet infomercial could do with some “green” after enduring the pessimistic grandma berating their parenting efforts while drunk off her ass.

  • First, may Jeanne Bice rest in peace. She was delightful and quirky.

Second, Montel needs to just say no. He claimed that his MS symptoms were diminished because he guinea pigged himself for a year and started his day with a drink made with his crappy, Vitamix knockoff. Bullshit. He helped his MS by starting his day with a doobie, and pigging himself out on pot-laced food.
