Patch Perfect Grass Seed Commercial Rips Off Famous Ron Popeil Phrase
Perhaps the most famous tag line in infomercial history is “Set It and Forget It” from the Ron Popeil infomercial for his Ronco Showtime Rotisserie. This phrase is so well known that it’s hard to believe anyone would try to copy it.
But that, apparently, is what the folks who made a TV commercial for the Patch Perfect grass seeds have done. Only instead of “Set It and Forget It” they say “Spread It ’n Forget It!” (which I’m sure has also been uttered many times by Ron Jeremy in a completely different context).
Go to this website to watch the cheesy Patch Perfect commercial for yourself.
Patch Perfect does, however, have an original motto of its own that just might become a classic: “It’s Like Grass Seed on Steroids,” which should appeal to the groundskeepers at Major League Baseball stadiums.

Ya i spent $30.00 from my credit card, they send me a letter 2 months later stating they did not recieve the payment. Like hello. i have proof but still no grass seed. cheaper just to go to walmart/canadian tire. etc..to buy your own…i bought perfect grass and it was up and thick in 5 days. and i have a crappy lawn to begin with all hard dirt. So i wouldnt buy anything from Tv. again….

Not only is it cheaper, you don’t have extra stuff charged on your credit card…unless you’re unlucky enough to get a cashier that copies your credit card number and uses it to buy shit for themselves.

Yeah, the loonies are definetely coming out of the woodwork. If its just a miraculous invention, why dont they advertise legitimately and write their own lines?
I noticed too, their main page is where you order from. It has RC4 128 encryption, which is Extremely weak in comparison with other types. It was invented in 1987 and very few people still use it. Its mainly used for securing wireless networks, which can be broken in a matter of hours. Anyway, read this so you know that “Perfect Grass Seed” is always looking out for your privacy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RC4#Security
Another thing is theres flash videos on the same page. Its highly unlikely that the site keeps up to date on exploits.
The latest RC4 hack was from 2005, but as early as 2001 there’ve been ways to break in. Put it this way: 104 bit RSA can be broken in under a minute.
So basically, their grass seed that claims to work on the moon was proven by scientists, but feel that security for customers needs to be at a bare minimum.
