Kevin Trudeau in Legal Trouble…Again

The Ridiculous Infomercial Review is a humor website. Despite what some people may assume, we are not on any kind of crusade to expose infomercial scams.

Nonetheless, I didn’t want to let this piece of news go by without comment. Kevin Trudeau has been on more TV infomercials for about as long as anyone I can think of. He was a prominent pitchman during the infomercial “golden age” of the late 80s/early 90s and his ads are still airing today.

On November 16, Kevin Trudeau was held in contempt of court. This was because he was found to have violated an earlier court injunction from 2004. That “permanent injunction” banned Trudeau from selling products via infomercial. However, it contained an exception for promoting books, as long as Trudeau did not misrepresent the content of the books. The U.S. District Court judge ruled that Trudeau misrepresented his book The Weight Loss Cure ‘They’ Don’t Want You to Know About by claiming the diet was “easy.”

No punishment has yet been determined for Kevin Trudeau. Perhaps this is finally the end of Mr. Trudeau’s reign as a fixture on TV infomercials.

Otherwise, Kevin Trudeau will use this ruling to his advantage, claiming that “They”—the Government, Big Pharma, the Diet Industry, the AMA—are trying to suppress him from speaking out about natural health and diet cures. Paranoia has been Trudeau’s most prominent marketing tactic lately.

For more info, check out this post from the Consumerist detailing just how “easy” Kevin Trudeau’s weight loss cure really is.

  • I don’t get it – no matter how paranoid you are, why would a ban help sell health products?

“The Official Governmental Labs called this product ‘one of the most humorous ways to die’. Nonsense! It’s perfectly safe! Order now, before the first poisoning charges roll in and it gets banned for good!”

    I mean, very inspiring =)

  • Your sarcasm, tone and disrespect for the Juiceman and his age plus Kevin Trudeau shows me you are paid by someone to be a poison pen and are a joker and degrader. At least the Juiceman and Kevin Trudeau make money by selling a product. You are just selling a poison pen and it is much saner and more ethical than how you are making yours. You website could be valuable if you cleanly stated your facts, but that’s not what you are getting paid for is it? Get a life.

  • You’re selling poison pens? where can i get one? I don’t see a link anywhere… it’s ‘them’ isn’t it? “they” don’t want you peddling your poison pens and they’re trying to suppress your right as an american to shill useless and possibly harmful products, aren’t they? damn them…

  • Is there any way to get my money back for “The Weight Loss Cure”? It claimed to have so much helpful information. I felt like I had to do so much more and spend more money to lose weight! It’s a sham!

  • I’ve lost over 100lbs on the diet Kevin Trudeau speaks about in his book. However, it took along time to find a doctor I could find to work with-yes it absolutely requires you to be under a licensed physician. The scam with his book is that it does not tell you the doctors you can contact-you have to sign up for his news letter @ $9.95 per month and I still could not find the doctors. I found my doctor completely on my own. And just try to get off that automatic debt from your account–the only thing my bank could do was cancel my account and issue me a new one!

  • The poison pen “They” Don’t want you to know about could be an excellent title for an infomercial. One needs, however, to decide first if the poison pen would be an instrument for sarcasm, an anti-bug commodity, a weapon for use by official assassins or CIA agents (Man On Fire is a case in point), an artificial penis, or something else?

  • Ohh nooes!!! I’m saddened because I haven’t seen any infomercials from him lately and now I know why. They were good for a laugh. It was scary though because of the information he gave to people, “stop taking your meds” etc. Strange.

  • If you check back a few years, this is the same Kevin Trudeau who was convicted of credit card fraud, paid a rather hefty fine and spent a few months in prison. If you believe anyting this man says, you’re an idiot. He’s a crook guys…open your eyes.

  • Sometimes late at night, when the remote is too far from the couch from where I sit, another one of Kevin’s moribund infomercials has me asking: how the hell does he manage to consistently buy all these dead spots on cable?
His latest ‘Free Money”, which has not place in a law abiding civilized non-Taliban society, is the evolution of a common thief grub worm that blossomed into a organized, enterprise of elite grub worm thieves.
He sits around a table preaching to these super hot babes how some guy he knew (probably from prison) got 5k free from the government. While doing their best to act interested, it’s clear their not impressed since they make that much every night by taking their shirts off. Then again, that’s what thieves do with the shirts from the backs of the naïve.
I won’t bother giving any credence to this book, or any other of his, by trying to discredit any particular false, vague, and otherwise purely untrue fart filled page.
To his credit as a now seasoned thief, he has managed to own almost all of the web-sites that come up when searching on ‘Kevin Trudeaus Scam’. Most of the sites trash him and then take you to a similar competitive scam he or one of his friends (probably from prison) operates.
But hey, don’t take it from me take it from Kevin, Ole Pinocchio nose.
