Is the Crazy Coat Guy the Next John Parkin?

Veteran infomercial viewers will recall a diminutive infomercial host from the late 80s/early 90s whose trademark was a red bowtie and suspenders. His name was John Parkin, although almost nobody ever remembered his name. (You can see pictures of him here and watch him in action in this dubbed-over clip of “Amazing Discoveries” with the late Mike Levy.)

Although the host of the Crazy Coat infomercial looks more like comedian Greg Proops, he still brings to mind John Parkin, mostly in that he is English and really annoying in the same spastic manner:

The “wacky” style of this pitchman may be reminiscent of John Parkin, but his penchant for double entendres (“Now that’s a nice rack!”) is more like Vince “You’re gonna love my nuts” Offer.

  • He reminds me a little of Matthew Lesko.

  • You beat me to it with Matthew Lesko comparison. Especially when he tosses the money in the air.

Hey! I LOVE sitting in salad dressing! How dare you make fun of me!
