Does Chaz Dean’s Face Disturb You?

You may have caught the Wen Hair Care (www.WenHairCare.com) infomercial (from the prolific Guthy-Renker team) on TV. For those who have seen it, did you find the face of hair stylist and Wen creator Chaz Dean disturbing? He looks like an effeminate Ron Perlman:
Infomercials featuring hair stylists with strange looks and ambiguous genders is nothing new. My post The Fruity Long-Haired Hairdressers with Foreign Accents are Coming! details this phenomemon. And except for the fact that he is American Chaz Dean would fit in nicely with Jose Ebert, Masood Max, and Yenz von Tilborg. Though heaven knows the face of Chaz Dean isn’t anywhere nearly as creepy as the one found on Yenz von Tilborg.
He looks a bit like Seth Green with elephantitis.

I have no problem with fruitcakes, homosexuals, effeminate guys or anyone selling anything anywhere anytime (as long as they are useful things); but late night infomercials almost always sell stuff that are, at best, of suspicious usefulness for the purpose it is being marketed, and often the sellers go to absurd lengths to sell their products to their ‘victims’ which, to me is, unfair and cruel.

I’ve used the wen cleansing conditioner and it’s not bad but it’s over priced. Chaz is sometimes on HSN or QVC; I can’t remember.

Yeah, his face looks like it’s been pulled back tighter than Cher’s, and Botoxed for good measure.
That said, his product does work just as well as the infomercial claims it does. My hair’s really short, and I don’t need to wash it every day, so the 16 oz. bottle lasted me for 5 months. (But then, I got an extra few weeks’ worth by adding water & shaking the “empty” bottle to release every last bit of the thick product from the walls of the bottle.)

I remember seeing this infomercial one night while out of my mind.
I wanted to see if he’d come up if I typed in “gay guy hair infomercial” into Google images.
He was the fourth.
As for the man himself, his mannerism is kind of funny.
The way he behaves is that of a quiet girl who knows she’s pretty.
And that’s exactly how he is, his expressions tell all. He thinks he’s so pretty.
Kinda funny to see on a guy.

I happen to think Chaz Dean is simply a gentle, tender man. He reminds me of a New-Age, sort of artsy guy. I don’t think he’s gay! As for his products…I have used his cleansing conditioner for years…exclusively! I wear my hair short but it has never been in as good shape as it is now!

I have know Chaz personally as a business associate for years. He is an amazing, kind and compassionate man. I have no idea if he is gay, and frankly, who cares? He would never lower himself to utter the type of hateful (and let’s face it, pointless) comments many of you have. Maybe if you focused less on hate and more on positivity (or at least meaningful topics) you will experience a fraction of the success that Mr. Dean has enjoyed.

I think anyone that bashes Chaz Dean is jealous of his success. He cares about the environment and he made a great line of products. Why don’t you people aim your hate at the Mike Murdocks and Todd Coontz kind of people. People like Murdock and Coontz gave nothing but want to just steal your money. Mr. Dean tried to improve his business in that he could have just continued to be a hair stylist, but because of the damage to his clients hair and the complaints from them, he tried to improve that problem and did successfully.

Like Jesus said when the religious leaders said a certain man had not washed his hands or that he was unclean physically or something like that, Jesus said it is not that fact of anything outward that defiles a man, but what is inside of him. Chaz Dean directly attributed his newest product to his poor deceased mom and a homeless woman and actually had the woman’s photo on QVC. I call that love in it’s purest form. This world is too full of blind hate.

I have just started using his products and I do like them. Yes they are more expensive then Suave but you get what you pay for. If you don’t care for his products don’t use them, but don’t use it as a reason to bash a person just because you don’t like the way he looks.Doesn’t any one have anything better to do then rag on Chaz Dean!

It doesn’t matter if he’s gay, or odd looking or you purportedly “know him personally” and are his best friend. It’s a public forum so if you’re going to get offended by the comments just don’t read them.
That being said, I believe the credibility of the product is suspect not simply because it’s on a late night infomercial, but because the products themselves contain ingredients that are known to be hazardous and/or damaging to hair. Not to mention it doesn’t seem very cost effective. If someone with normal, not dry, not incredibly thick hair has to use 40 pumps of the conditioner as is described in the informational video, I can only imagine what it would cost someone with say more ethnic hair to maintain a Wen haircare regimen.

I have used Chaz’s products for one whole year and my hair has transformed from a literal abandoned birds nest to hair like when I was a youngster. As far as his show being on late night, well he’s on all different times. He is QUITE legitimate and his products are too. Don’t forget, you neanderthal, that you get what you pay for, but people like you are probably not willing to spend any money and expect the best. Every single ingredient in his products are explained in a fully illustrated book you get with every single product you purchase. It is economical because I have spent many many hundreds of dollars and have rooms full of products that did not deliver, his main product, the cleansing conditioner suffices for cleansing, conditioning, deep conditioning, leave in, detangler and shaving cream. To me, it had saved me a bundle of money. Chaz Dean is the rare exceptional person who took pride in his work unlike so many people that feel, well, they don’t kill me with money so why do any better? That was not his mind set. He tried to improve his profession and make people happy. I don’t see anyone else, including Dove and all the rest of these companies who only want to make money. Don’t be so jealous of someone who deserves their good fortune. No one gave it to him. He worked for years on this. Maybe people should mimick his attitude and his humility.

This man has a business,takes care of himself and actuallly provides an income for others. Plus whether you knew it or not, he had the kinddness to allow a homeless person to live on his property for over 12 years…what have you done to be kind or considerate? So instead of wasting your energy on pettiness and criticism, do something kind and generous..you won’t have time for such cruelty and selfish indulgence.

Look the only reason any straight guy would even watch the WEN info-mercials is to check out the hot hosts, namely Melissa Gilbert and Alyssa Milano. Even if WEN works, it is way over priced for a product made up of tree bark, nut oil, and 2 common herbs. Chaz’s sexual disorientation is obvious but since Hollywood is pro-gay he is in the right market to sell his magic hair cleaner.

You go! You don’t find many people with that kind of caring to let a homeless person live on their property is so right! Most people won’t give you ice in the winter. He even commemorated one of his products after that homeless person. Chaz is one in a zillion. Men don’t have to be like “atlas” to be a man. It’s the strength of the character in a person. I think Chaz Dean has a beautiful soul. He is beautiful inside and out and puts his money where his mouth is, UNLIKE many of the celeb-types who will be the first ones to tell you how generous they are.
Chaz loves people, animals and nature. He has worked hard to erase negativity in his life. And as the owner of 3 Labs myself, the behavior of his young pups, all litter mates, is impressive. It’s obvious he has worked very hard to make them well-behaved, balanced and obedient. They clearly adore him and so do I.
I cannot afford his product, but wish I could because it clearly works….same as his life.
He allowed a homeless person to remain on a property he purchased because it was the right thing to do. He LOST business over this decision when many of his snooty clients left his salon over the homeless person in the parking lot. When this person passed away on his property, he paid for and arranged the ceremony and funeral.
Chaz is a stand up guy. Whom he chooses to sleep with? is none of my or your business. Judgemental much, people? Some of you need to seriously evaluate your lives.

I think I’ve figured it out somewhat. Besides the stills up above being somewhat bad facial freeze-frames, Chaz has both a very masculine and feminine face and that’s where the confusion comes in.
Without the styling and make-up, he’d be pretty action-hero hunky. I made a quick (poor) image of him with a crew-cut, that’s a start. But he is who he is and I think his gentle spirit is part of the femininity. Take a look -

The man is a genius. Coming up with a new concept to play into woman’s insecurities about their hair. And of course he teamed up with GR to blast infomercials all over tv with celebs endorsing it. He’s laughing all the way to the bank. Your hair comes down to genetics and diet.

A wen is: “1.A boil or other swelling or growth on the skin, esp. a sebaceous cyst.”
