Perfect Polly Pet: Who Needs a Parakeet When You Can Love a Piece of Plastic?

Of all the popular pets, a parakeet has to be one of the easiest to own. Stick the bird in a cage, keep the feeder full, line the cage with a Paul Krugman column, and change the lining as needed.

But apparently this is still too much work for many people. Instead they can shower their affection on a Perfect Polly Pet.

Who needs actual live animals as pets when you can just have a noisy twitching piece of plastic in your home instead?

I wonder what basis they have for the claim, “Even this live parakeet can’t tell the difference [between Perfect Polly Pet and a real bird].” How do they know that the parakeet can’t tell the difference? Just because it stays on the perch instead of flying away in terror or attacking the faux version of itself?

It seems to me as if the parakeet is thinking to himself, “Oh, no! What have the dummies who own me come up with this time?”

  • This is quite possibly the saddest thing I have ever seen on this website. Which, by the way, I have enjoyed for many years. And this is the first thing I have ever felt strongly enough to comment on.

  • They have baby dolls that wet themselves. Maybe the next version of PerfectPollyPet will be able to make fake poop.

  • Man, I’ve been taking care of this pet dog for 8 years like a sucker when I could have just bought a picture of a dog.

  • Who cares, maybe it will be a diversion for our budgie when he’s not turing the cage into his permanent commode. ++++ We love parakeet sounds.

    Best Regards,

  • These people are scandalous. There’s no free shipping. And they never sent the product although the card was charged. Dont fall victim.

  • “Even this live parakeet can’t tell the difference.” Maybe because most parakeets can’t tell the difference between a live bird and a MIRROR.
